I bought a large quantity of strength #1 reeds about 10-12 years ago and have stored them in a sealed container in a non-smoking house. I actually use these with a Selmer C* mouthpiece. This soft a reed gives an incredibly strong and resonant low octave. It is difficult to get notes above middle C unless you know how to voice the notes. I actually trim and adjust these reeds so the final strength I am using is more like a 1-1/2 to 2. I use this setup professionally.
